ECHOES OF UPRISING
ECHOES OF UPRISING
Being faced with what happens every day in Palestine, we decided once again not to turn a blind eye.
We believe that every small gesture is worthy inside an international context of solidarity that begins, like in this case, from the bottom, from the people.
We involved some of the best photographers of the italian underground scene to create "Echoes of Uprising", a 15-pages fanzine printed on recycles paper, the proceeds of which will be donated to MECA - Middle East Children's Alliance, a no profit organisation that provides humanitarian aid to the Palestinian population.

2025 Supported Org: Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA)
The official death toll in Gaza, since the start of the war in October 2023, is nearly 47,000 people, including about 18,000 children -- and most experts and analysts believe the true number of deaths if significantly higher. Those that remain are facing unimaginable challenges: they lack food, water, and many of the other basic supplies for survival. Many of them are severely injured or ill. Although the recent ceasefire deal seems likely to open the way for a significant increase in civilian aid, Palestinians in Gaza are still in acute need of support.
Tumblr media
The Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA) has worked for over 30 years to protect the rights and improve the lives of children in the Middle East through aid, empowerment and education. Since October of 2023 they have mobilized their existing grassroots network to deliver supplies, drinking water, and hot meals to families in Gaza, as well as to provide emotional and psychological support to children there. Based in Berkeley, California, MECA operates both in the Middle East to provide direct humanitarian aid and services, and in the US and internationally to raise awareness about the lives of children in the region and encourages meaningful action.
MECA’s work in the Middle East includes:
Direct aid including food, medicine, medical supplies, and clothes as well as books, toys and school supplies. Since 1988, they have sent more than $31 million in aid to children in Palestine, Iraq and Lebanon
Financial support and professional assistance to community organizations in the West Bank and Gaza that help meet Palestinian children’s needs, including clinics, kindergartens, counseling centers, libraries; accessible parks and playgrounds; sports teams, and dance, music and art programs
University scholarships for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank
You can support MECA as a creator in the 2025 FTH auction (or as a bidder, when the time comes to donate for the auctions you’ve won.)

By Susan Edelman and Deirdre Bardolf
Activists and foreign actors have infiltrated the city’s public schools with anti-Israel materials, fostering bias and hatred of Jews, according to a new report by a nonprofit think tank.
Teacher groups like NYC Educators for Palestine have collaborated with extremist organizations, some allegedly tied to hostile foreign governments and terrorist groups, to bring “radical, anti-American ideologies” into schools, said the Network Contagion Research Institute, or NCRI, and the advocacy group New York City Public School Alliance, which co-wrote the report.
“The report exposes how the Department of Education’s vetted resources enable radical sympathizers to shape young minds with biased information,” said Tova Plaut, a DOE pre-K coordinator and co-founder with teacher Karen Feldman of NYCPS Alliance, a group of Jewish educators who contributed to the project.
Tumblr media
8An “Arab World” classroom map at Brooklyn’s PS 261 that excluded Israel was provided by the Qatar Foundation, an arm of the country’s ruling family, which has donated $1 million to NYC schools.
Tumblr media
8The report found a network of “radical” curriculum developers, activist educator groups and foreign influences that have contributed to the infiltration of anti-Israel materials within the NYC public school system.NCRI
Set for release this week, the report cites DOE documents, school events and staff social media posts as evidence of its findings.
It calls on the DOE to immediately conduct a curriculum review; enforce the chancellor’s anti-discrimination policies; adopt a definition of antisemitism and mandate training on it; and increase oversight of foreign funding.
“If these ideas are left unchecked, they will be internalized by a new generation of students, who will then  graduate, attend university, vote, enter the workforce, and raise families of their own, further embedding antisemitic beliefs into wider American society,” the NCRI and NYC Public Schools Alliance said.
Among the findings:
The DOE’s recommended resources for teachers include the Zinn Education Project, which provide lessons, workshops and articles highly critical of Israel and the US.
The DOE staff resource list links to the Zinn website, which features a section on “Teaching About Palestine-Israel and the Unfolding Genocide in Gaza” that claims, “Israel has turned Gaza into a ‘graveyard for children.”
Beacon High School in Midtown used Zinn lessons and articles, along with videos from Arab news network Al Jazeera, for a 10th-grade social studies class on the Israel-Palestine conflict, emails reviewed by The Post show.
The content “demonized Jews” while referring to Hamas as “a political party and militant group,” not as terrorists, parents said.
Other resources available for NYC teachers to use at “their discretion” include those from the Teach Palestine project, which gives materials that emphasize “Palestinian victimhood” and frame Zionism as a “colonialist” movement.
Teach Palestine is financially supported by the Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA), a California-based nonprofit with reported ties to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, a U.S.-designated terrorist organization.
In May, the PTA of Ella Baker School, a public elementary on the Upper West Side, hosted a “Teach Palestine” webinar, sponsored by Rethinking Schools, the report said.
Materials covered topics such as “anti-Zionism is not automatically antisemitism,” and “Israel’s attacks on children, schools, and historical memory in Palestine.”
These potentially violate Chancellor’s Regulation A-830, according to the report.
The report cites two groups, NYC Educators For Palestine, an arm of the UFT caucus MORE, and Teaching While Muslim, which hosted a virtual “curriculum share” for 80 teachers in February.

"Across the country, thousands of public schools face closures due to low enrollment.
But Detroit, Michigan-based nonprofit Life Remodeled is welcoming vacant schools into a new era.
The organization, which has invested $51 million in revitalizing Detroit neighborhoods, primarily works to purchase vacant properties and work with dozens of area organizations to provide life-changing resources to community members.
Tumblr media
Its first remodel — the Durfee Innovation Society — opened in 2023. A former elementary and middle school, the building is now what the organization calls “an opportunity hub,” providing resources like after-school programs, career preparedness, and support in accessing healthcare, financial literacy, and more.
“The Durfee Innovation Society is an Opportunity Hub,” Brandy Haggins, the director of the project, told CBS News. “We call it that because we’ve taken an old school building that probably would have set back vacant, and we housed it with the best and brightest nonprofits in Detroit.”
She continued: “An Opportunity Hub is a place where individuals can come and get opportunities that they deserve, that they probably otherwise would not have access to.”
The building is home to over 35 organizations, including Nursing Detroit, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Starfish Family Services.
Since it opened, the Durfee Innovation Society has provided 3,400 Detroit students with after-school programming, 5,600 with job opportunities, and 13,400 children and families with resources and support.
Ultimately, the organization says, 22,000 Detroiters take part in Durfee’s programs every year.
These numbers represent exciting milestones, but they are also in competition with what Life Remodeled is up against.
According to the organization, 88% of third graders in Detroit read below grade level. 30% of Detroiters can’t access the healthcare they need. And Detroit residents’ median household income is 50% less than suburban residents.
School closures impact low-income communities hardest, with low enrollment rates causing school districts to consolidate resources — and infrastructure.
In 2017, Durfee Elementary School merged with a local high school, and Life Remodeled swooped in to save the space.
“It’s not just community history; It’s personal history for a lot of people,”  Haggins told CBS News in 2024. “What better way to work with the community than to reopen their school building into something that still belongs to them?”
Tumblr media
The services available at the hub are free to anyone in the community. Nonprofits housed there pay for their space “at cost,” meaning they only pay what it takes to keep the building up and running.
It’s a model that seems to be working.
“The best part about being involved is seeing the actual change be made,” Charles Spears, the youth alliance president for Durfee Innovation Society, told CBS News. “You know, a lot of people talk about it. But when you get to see first hand, you actually see what is happening. It’s just like, wow, there is literally opportunity for all.”
Now, Life Remodeled is onto their next project: another “opportunity hub” on the east side of Detroit. The new property, formerly Winans Performing Arts Academy, is a 90,000-square-foot space that plans to open in December of 2025.
It’s called Anchor Detroit, and it’s located in the Denby community — an area in which residents “face significant poverty and lack access to opportunities related to educational attainment, job opportunities, and health and wellness resources,” according to a press release from Life Remodeled.
More than 50,000 square feet of the space will be leased by nonprofit partners, who will bring more after-school youth programs, workforce development initiatives, and health resources to the area...
Anchor Detroit is currently being renovated to prepare for its reopening and will reportedly include a “significant presence” for arts and culture programs.
Tumblr media
Once it opens, Life Remodeled estimates the new space will support 18,000 community members per year.
“This should be a nationwide model for other schools that have closed across the country,” Haggins told CBS News. “I think taking a school building, or any historical building that means something to a community, and repurposing it into something that’s for the community — that’s huge and necessary.”"

2024 Supported Org: Middle East Children's Alliance (MECA)
The humanitarian crisis in Gaza reached a boiling point this past October, and continues to take a toll on civilian lives - many of them children. But families and children in Gaza and throughout the Middle East have been living in unsafe and impoverished conditions for decades. In areas lacking basic infrastructure to support healthy communities, conflict at any scale has an outsized impact.
Tumblr media
The Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA) works to protect the rights and improve the lives of children in the Middle East through aid, empowerment and education. Based in Berkeley, California, MECA operates both in the Middle East to provide direct humanitarian aid and services, and in the US and internationally to raise awareness about the lives of children in the region and encourages meaningful action.

I’ve linked to them before but if anyone is interested in authentic pottery, wood work, spices, olive oil, ceramics, and more from Palestinian artisans this shop is run by MECA (Middle East Children’s Alliance) who from everything I’ve researched looks like a reputable organization. It is as we know near impossible to get aid and resources into Gaza right now but they sent out this email on the 13th:
Tumblr media
They also sell things like cookbooks to engage in, support, and preserve Palestinian culture. As their website states it is difficult for them to get orders out right now but some of the things I ordered last week arrived quickly!

Note
pro-Israeli bigot pig.
I got this ask after making a post saying that you should support Palestinian liberation without reblogging literal Nazis.
Saying "don't reblog literal nazis" is not an anti-Palestine rallying cry. Saying "ceasefire now" and "end Israeli apartheid" is not a call for violence against Jewish people.
I cannot believe that I have to spell that out.
Anyway, if you'd like to support Palestine, consider donating to the Middle East Children's Alliance. If you're concerned that Palestinians who speak out in favor of Palestinian liberation in the US are losing their jobs or having their speech restricted, consider donating to Palestine Legal.
If you're ever worried that you don't know who to give your money to in a crisis, it's hard to go wrong with a donation to Doctors Without Borders; MSF has been providing care in Palestine since 1989 and have doctors currently working in Palestine.
If you don't have money to spare and you are in the US, please continue to call your representatives and put pressure on them to demand a ceasefire in Palestine.

Places to donate to help Palestine
PCRF.net - They did over a 100 medical missions in 2022 (Palestine Children’s Relief Fund)
Middle East Children's Alliance - A Non-profit organization fighting for the well-being and rights of Middle Eastern Children. They also have a link to a 'tool kit' to help spread information about the Gaza Genocide. I'm linking to it directly HERE
Anera: Where Hope Finds a Way - They provide everything from food, medicine and hygiene kits. $30 equals 16 blood bags - an essential thing for helping doctors help people survive horrible physical trauma.
UNICEF.org - Link to where you can donate to help UNICEF get aid to those suffering in Palestine.
And because I know damn well that lots of people don't have the extra funds to donate money - you can help by simply clicking here once a day. It donates ad revenue. Click to help Palestine
[I wanted so much to find other places people could donate that weren't in the US or Canada, but I was having problems figuring out how to ensure that they were reputable. If anyone knows of any, please reblog and add the links!]
And some basic informational sources for those who want to understand what's really going on other than the misleading information from the media.
BDS - The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions movement works to end international support for Israel's oppression of Palestinians. Offers actual news about what's happening.
Decolonize Palestine - In depth information about the history and origins of Palestine. Also has a great 'debunked myths' section that lists almost all of all the lies the Media has been peddling.
Mondoweiss - An independent website devoted to informing readers about developments in Israel/Palestine and related US foreign policy. (Be aware: Some articles show disturbing images of the horrors happening in Gaza.)
Petitions I found with reputable track records (there are a LOT of fakes out there)
Canada:
Independant Jewish Voices Canada - Gaza on the Brink Ceasefire Now! - Prewritten letter to Justin Trudeau and Mélanie Joly calling for an immediate ceasefire, and for an end to the collective punishment of Palestinians. Just sign your name and it sends a letter!
There are several other ways (Including email addresses to various people/companies, as well as physical addresses you can mail letters to) listed here.
DON'T send threats/hate mail. That does nothing but make them double down on their current stances. Be polite. You don't have to take a happy tone, but be polite.
United States:
USA - Tell Congress: Stop Fueling the Gaza Genocide - Demanding an immediate ceasefire and for Humanitarian Aid to be allowed into Gaza.
Jewish Voice for Peace - You can use their form for send a letter to Congress to demand that they should focus on de-escalation instead of sending money and weapons to Israel so they can continue their genocidal war against Palestinians.
Jewish Voice for Peace (part 2) - Fill out this form and inform President Biden that he should call for a ceasefire and stop supplying money and weapons to Israel.

I haven’t seen news on the Bourbon Street attack circulate much on Tumblr, but I implore other Palestine activists in the US to keep our Arab/Muslim communities in mind. Right-wingers and Z*nists have already been attempting to twist the tragedy to further their xenophobia and islamophobia. This is all the more insidious when one of the confirmed victims of the attack was Kareem Badawi, a 18-year-old Palestinian American from Baton Rouge.
Tumblr media
As a lifelong New Orleanian: please don't let z*onists and right-wingers twist this tragedy to spread their hate.
If you want to support the victims of this attack, The Greater New Orleans Foundation has set up a fund to support families of victims and people injured by the attack:
Palestinian activists in New Orleans also have an ongoing campaign for the Middle East Children's Alliance to provide essential services in Gaza:
